Don’t Be Afraid To Dream Big
Anna was eleven years old when she entered her first talent contest. She was going to sing. For the past three weeks she had been practising every single night, hoping to win. The night before, she had been unable to sleep. She was so excited.
She did not win.
Anna cried the entire way home. She could not believe that she had lost. Singing was all that she wanted to do. It was her biggest dream. She had been sure that this was her first step on her way to being a superstar.
For the next few months Anna did not sing much. She was still too upset. She felt like her dream had been crushed before it had even begun.
Then, on her twelfth birthday, Anna’s parents bought her a guitar. Anna was so happy. She had always wanted a guitar of her own. It didn’t take long before she was playing her own music, and writing her own songs.
Anna began to dream of singing again. Of being a superstar. She was not going to give up again. She was going to make her dreams come true. She started to believe that it was really possible. She practised her guitar every day, she wrote her own songs, and got better and better. She sang in the school band, and performed for friends and family, as well as others in the local area. She even performed on the local radio several times.
Just before her sixteenth birthday, Anna entered another contest. This time she won. Anna celebrated all night with her friends. This was the proof she needed. She was going to make her dreams come true.
